It’s not just about fast-fashion anymore. Keeping up with the trends and best new looks when it comes to your home can be just as challenging. Home décor style moves quickly, here’s my hot list of what to watch for this fall, part one:
New neutral palette. In the 90s it was all about monochromatic palettes with various shades of beige, taupe, and cream working together. Now navy is considered a neutral, much like black is as a strong anchor colour, and navy looks fresh with any shade of grey, plus crisp white or dreamy cream. Metals that work well in accessories can be gold, bronze, pewter or silver depending on whether you prefer a warm or cool vibe.
Rustic but refined. I like to think of this as a far more sophisticated, re-upped version of the country-esque, shabby-chic décor look of yesterday. Dining and coffee tables looks gorgeous in natural, raw or aged wood finishes plus slightly distressed, warm-toned metals are appearing in lamp bases and lighting.
Grey walls. Paint stores cannot keep any shade of grey paint in stock for long. From the softest shade of dove, to the darkest charcoal, your walls will welcome a coat or two. Try some paint chips in various depths and hues on your walls first, and check on them throughout the day. Light, sunny days vs, rainy, etc will change the look and feel of how any shade of grey paint appears in your home.
